Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother~~Amy Chua

Just finished reading this book.  I LOVED it.  I know that she got some flack for this book but to me it was a story about a mom with an idea of how she wanted to raise her children and her struggle to do just that.  Dealing with the ups and downs of parenting, learning how to parent her second child, dealing with mommy guilt, these are things we all have to deal with, no matter where we come from or the type of mother we want to be.  I don't feel that she was saying her way was the better way, ok well, she did say that, many times, but she also cried and struggled and questioned what she was doing.  I think we all need to believe the way we chose to parent is the best but there are also going to be days when we all cry and feel like we have totally messed our children up.  Hopefully we haven't, or at least not permanently;)  Being a parent is hard, not just because of the fact that you are caring for and shaping a person, but because you want to be perfect and nobody is perfect.  I think that Amy Chua did a great job of capturing her experience and putting it to paper.  The book made me think, laugh and cry. It was an easy read and I enjoyed it a lot!  It's yours now mom! I will have it ready for you when you come down on Wed ;)
