Laundry Soap

Finished product!

I can't believe that I didn't take a picture of the products that I used, silly me. Well anyway the recipe I used used was:
3 bars of Fels-Naptha Soap, grated
1, 4lb box of Borax and Baking Soda
1, 3lb 7oz box of Washing Soda
"some" OxiClean
All you really need are the soap and washing soda the rest are just added to keep things white and smelling bright;) I would be really disappointed if I switched to homemade stuff and then my clothes smelled and were dingy so I made this batch with all the ingredients.

I grated the soap and then actually used my coffee bean grinder to make it finer. They said that you don't have to but if you are only using a tablespoon or 2 I wanted to make sure I got enough of the soap in each load. Anyway I paid about 10 bucks for the supplies and it made about 3-4 gallons of dry detergent! Super savings and I am excited to use it!!! I am going to make a mark on the side of the container each load so I can keep track of how many loads it does and the actual savings I am going to enjoy;)

I am going to make that too! I had made it once a couple years ago but am going to try it again. I like the addition of the oxy clean stuff. How big of a container did you put it in?

Well I thought I was going to need a huge container so I bought a 6 gallon container from Wal-Mart. It has PLENTY of room in it. But it was nice to have a large container to mix it in, I could lean it over and make sure I got the bottom mixed well. Good Luck with it!

Yep, got everything from Wal-Mart. I am sure that you could find it other places too, and certainly on-line but I noticed that it's cheaper at Wal-Mart ;)
